Io Do Una Mano ( I Give a Hand) is a non-profit organization with the goal of helping people – especially children – with congenital or acquired differences in their upper limbs by designing, 3D printing, and freely distributing personalized assistive devices. Io Do Una Mano promotes the concept of accessibility and the creation of a “digital volunteer” network.
Sports, art, and independence: personalized technologies to fully live what you love.
One of the core goals of the I Give a Hand, Io Do Una Mano project is to support people of all ages in pursuing their passions—whether that means discovering a new hobby or continuing an activity that already enriches their life.
We do this by designing and producing functional assistive devices, fully customized to meet each individual’s specific needs.
A Paintbrush for Fabio
Among our most recent creations is the device made for Fabio, an artist with a passion for painting. Our team designed an assistive tool that allows him to securely hold a paintbrush and continue creating his beautiful artwork. Each device we build is designed to enhance the individual’s abilities, offering practical tools for self-expression.
We’d like to remind everyone that all of our devices are fully customizable—their shape, size, and color can be adapted to fit the specific needs and intended use of each person. Our approach is entirely person-centered, and every assistive tool is the result of a direct dialogue with the person who will use it.
On the Court with Filippo
Sport is another area where passion meets determination, and we are proud to make a difference here as well. Our tennis assistive device was created for Filippo, a young athlete we met through the association Raggiungere Odv. For him, tennis is pure energy and a constant challenge.
🏆 Filippo has already won two trophies, and during the Para Standing Championship, he successfully used our device, which helps him toss the ball to serve. On that occasion, champion Thalita Rodrigues also had the chance to learn about Io Do Una Mano and expressed interest in our tennis-specific assistive tools.
If you’d like to discover all the sports devices we’ve created, you can find them [here].
Anyone can reach out to Io Do Una Mano to present a specific need, describe their situation, and share ideas. The IDUM team, along with a network of volunteers and professionals, will work to design a customized, free solution.
