ALGO-LITTLE, ALGORITHMIC THINKING SKILLS

THROUGH PLAY-BASED LEARNING FOR FUTURE’S CODE LITERATES

The project partnership, coordinated by Demokrasi University of Izmir, Turkey presented the project ALGOLITTLE and started the planned activities in an online meeting in November 2020.

It is an Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education, two-year, co-funded by the European Union through the Turkish National Agency (TURNA).

The project targets undergraduates of Bachelor’s degree courses in Education and Training Sciences, especially for pre-school education, who will participate in the project to train on learning/teaching activities developed to integrate algorithmic thinking skills in all subject areas addressed in pre-school education.

The project activities will focus on game-based learning/teaching, along with three phases of the application:

  • the development of children’s abilities to use linear algorithms to solve problems;
    the application of various types of algorithms and the development of primary algorithmic skills;
    the reinforcement of algorithmic skills and the transfer of learning algorithms into various subject areas and learning activities.
  • The project aims to prepare a programme of courses and teaching materials for undergraduates of Education and Training Sciences courses to integrate algorithmic thinking into all areas of pre-school education, from teaching music, art, mathematics, drama, science, behaviour, and language development, as they are addressed in early childhood.

The programme will be implemented in cooperation with the other 5 European partners: University of Maribor (Slovenia), School of Robotics (Italy), University of Rijeka (Croatia), Polytechnic Institute of Viseu (Portugal), and Educloud – Education Organisation Technology and Trade Ltd. (Education Organisation Technology and Trade, Turkey).

The partners met online on 30 November 2020 to launch the project.
