Erasmus plus project “Mind Maths”: Partners meeting at Kocaeli University

The meeting of the Partners of the Erasmus plus project Mind Maths (Flipped Learning Practices to Release Maths Anxiety with the Use of Robotics 2020-1-TR01-KA203-092209) will take place from 5 to 6 April 2022 at the University of Kocaeli.

School of Robotics is one of the Mind Maths Partners.

The meeting will be opened by the Coordinator of Erasmus projects of the Kocaeli University, Prof. Banu Inan-Karagul, the Dean of the Department of Educational Sciences, Prof. Elif Çelebi Öncü and the Vice Rector, Prof. Ahmet Küçük.

The topics under discussion concern the piloting phase, which will develop the validation and evaluation of Mind Maths curricula by the participants undergraduates and teachers. Indeed, the beneficiaries of the project, which is an Erasmus Higher Education, are undergraduates and future teachers.

The Curriculum, produced in all partner languages, contains several proposals for classroom and outdoor activities (e.g. sports) that can support the learning of mathematics in a playful and laboratory way.

The methodology adopted is that of the flipped classroom, where the future teachers, the undergraduates participating in the piloting, will simulate being students (the age range of the project students is from 5 to 8 years old) performing those activities. The Curriculum is complemented by a video library with exercises, activities and quizzes.

Scuola di Robotica has designed several activities involving the use of educational robots and the development of computational thinking (both plugged and unplugged activities).
