A Summer in a library… A dream 🙂
Genoa, Biblioteca Internazionale per i Ragazzi E. De Amicis
June 2024
The coding and educational robotics courses in support of reading and storytelling for the staff of Genoa’s Biblioteca Internazionale per i Ragazzi E. De Amicis take place in June 2024.
The course is part of the project ‘I Feel Good in the Library’, sponsored and promoted by the Urban Library System of the Municipality of Genoa, funded by the Department for Youth Policies and Universal Civil Service of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
The project will involve, in the first phase, young people aged between 14 and 18 years old who will receive specific training to become mentors for younger people; the collaboration of the educational institutions of Genoa and its Province, first and second grade secondary schools and many associations dealing with youth policies will be requested to select them. The interested schools have been selected and will start their activities with the school year 2024-25.
The teens will be asked to find their own way of ‘reading and narrating’ the world, experimenting and creating new storytelling possibilities with the use of various digital and robotic programmes and devices.
The challenging objective of the project proposal is to make the library become even more of a hybrid space between paper and digital, between physical and virtual, a training and experimentation pole for children and all educational figures with a view to building an inclusive cultural community.
