The final phase of the 2019-2020 Italian Robotics Olympics has begun, the robotics contest promoted by the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR) in collaboration with Scuola di Robotica (https://www.olimpiadirobotica.it/).
During the first phase of the competition 30 teams were selected to meet in Genoa on 2-3-4 April to take part in a Hackathon and present to the judges the robots they created for the protection of the environment in the 3 categories Earth, Water, and Air.
Since the event could not be held in the presence – due to COVID 19 -, the final was transformed into an online Hackathon divided into two phases.
Alliances formed, by extraction, by three teams located in different places in the country will have to decide which data to collect and analyze with Machine Learning techniques.
The individual teams are then called upon to build handcrafted sensors to collect data from the environment and an original prototype with one of the two kits that have been sent to each student in the team.
All teams and coaches will be given specific training on the use of the kits, the construction of the sensors with material easily available in homes, and the methods of data analysis using Machine Learning software.
On June 30th 2020 there will be a live streaming event during which the alliances will present their projects to the judges and the three winning teams (one per category) will be nominated.
