On 9 September, at 15:00, it will be possible to follow, free of charge, the webinar ‘The right to mobility between accessibility and legislation’ organised by the Third Sector organisation Faip (Federation of Italian Associations of People with Spinal Cord Injury). The event is one of the actions envisaged by the Erasmus+ project ‘ROaD EducatiOn’, also called ‘Rodeo’, in which Faip is a partner. The online conference will discuss what needs to be done to make our roads and streets accessible to people with disabilities, whether they are pedestrians or behind the wheel of a vehicle. Having the right to mobility recognised also means having access to the possibility of obtaining a driving licence. For this reason, a part of the webinar will be dedicated to the procedures to follow in order to obtain a driving licence when being a person with disabilities.

That’s not all, existing technological devices will be presented and described to adapt the car and thus enable people with disabilities to drive it, including those with intensive support needs. In addition, one of the speakers of the webinar will address, in his speech, the topic of the Car Identification Card, which has long proved to be a useful tool to facilitate the movement of persons with disabilities and which is at the centre of a recent EU directive, which establishes the birth of its European model valid and recognised in all twenty-seven member states.

Rodeo is an Erasmus+ project, which aims, among others, to make secondary school students from different European countries more aware of what is the correct behaviour to have on the road and when driving, the consequences and risks of wrong road behaviour and its impact on society and individuals, in particular those with disabilities, and the creation of innovative and technological educational methods and tools for road safety education, which stimulate dynamic learning, which puts students at the centre, which is inclusive of students and people with disabilities, and which teaches how to make roads accessible spaces for all.
